Railway Signalling Design Engineer

Job Title: Contract Railway Signalling Design Engineer
Rate: Up to £50 / hour (limited company contractor)

The Design Engineer, depending upon experience, shall be able to carry out design and design production checks on Signalling systems as instructed by more senior Engineers, developing through the range of standard trackside equipment to more complex conceptual design work. Key Duties Include:
* Carry out design and design production checks on Signalling systems as instructed by more senior Engineers.
* Provide functional support and guidance to the Assistant Design Engineer(s) within the team on all aspects of Signal Design within allocated projects.
* Assist in the preparation of technical details, specifications and tenders for Signalling projects.

* Discharge safety responsibilities in relation to CDM Regulations, Health and Safety legislation, company procedures and standards.

Job Title: Railway Signalling Project Engineer

They are looking to recruit an experienced Project Engineer to join an existing team delivering a signalling project in Melbourne, Australia. The Project Engineer will support the Project Manager and provide a key interface between engineering, manufacturing and supply and site construction activities. This is a team position that is focused on ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget and in accordance with the client’s specifications. This role will require a mix of office and site based activities.
Key duties:
* Assist the Project Manager to liaise with the Marketing and Sales department to ensure accurate tenders are submitted.
* Assist the Project Manager to implement and manage project control plans and procedures. Provide project status reports as required.
* Support the Project Manager to liaise with the appropriate design resources to ensure design provided conforms to the client’s specification.
* Liaise with Project Engineers to ensure supplier’s product conforms to the client’s specification requirements and is delivered in a timely manner and provided at minimum cost.
* Assist the Project Manager to ensure installation and testing procedures for product and systems conform to the client’s requirements. Provide support to ensure the product and system is tested and installed accurately in line with project requirements.
* Liaise with clients and staff to ensure the commissioning procedures for product and system conform to the client’s requirements and is commissioned to meet project timescales and commissioned at minimum cost.
* Liaise with the Project Manager to ensure that the project is delivered in accordance with contract terms and conditions. Liaise with the contract specialist staff to highlight contract issues and develop an appropriate action plan for prompt resolution.

Job Title: Project Engineer - Automatic Train Control

This engineer will be involved in liaison with suppliers and customers to agree technical requirements, as well as, installation and testing activities. They will also be involved in planning and the resolution of complex interface issues.
The Project Engineer will be required to perform a variety of different tasks as the project progresses through its lifecycle. The Project Engineer will be assigned tasks by the Project Engineering Manager or one of the Management Team. Their responsibilities are defined below. The tasks assigned will be dependant on the abilities and development needs of the Project Engineer.
Specific Tasks:
* Delivery of the ATC system deliverables to the project in terms of technical solution, programme and budget
* Technical Scope management and Change control within the range of scope or changes authorised by the Project Manager (PM)
* Correct processing of design changes in accordance with the Project change management procedure
* Drawing to the attention of the PM any scope deviation, growth or technical change requested by the customers personnel that has not been passed through the PM
* Contribute to technical threat and risk reviews
* Interface between all Project design disciplines and co-ordination with other internal engineering groups
* Configuration Management of all Technical Document in accordance with Company Management System
* Assist in the production of the handover process, including all operational and maintenance requirements and spares Listings
* Ensuring that the work is progressed in a verifiable and reportable manner
* Applying formal Requirements capture and analyses process for interface requirements specifications
* Production and review of ATO/ATC design, installation and testing specifications and Operating and Maintenance Manuals
* Analyses of mathematical models and dynamic simulations of train behaviour
